VELLA. On May 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, KARMNU, from Wardija, St Paul’s Bay, aged 77, passed away peacefully by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Giovanna, his children Luke and his wife Jacqueline, Joseph, Rosanne and her husband Roland Sollars, his grandchildren Jeremy, Steven and Sarah, Carmen widow of his brother Joe, his wife’s siblings and their respective families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei tomorrow, Monday, May 3 at 2.15pm, for Marija Addolorata parish church, St Paul’s Bay where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm followed by interment at Ħniena Divina cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. The family would like to thank the staff of the Cardiac Medical Ward and the Heart Failure Unit of Mater Dei Hospital. Donations to Society of Christian Doctrine (MUSEUM) will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - A searing blaze that roared through dozens of fuel tankers on the northern edge of the Afghan capital of Kabul killed seven people and injured 14 others, the Interior Ministry said Sunday.
Investigators were combing through the tankers that lay in smoldering ruins and a gas station caught in the flames that lit up the area late Saturday, said ministry spokesman Tariq Arian.

KARACHI: Industrialists on Saturday came hard on a government’s decision to announce extended holidays for upcoming Eid celebration and demanded sensible steps from the policymakers for the weak economy that couldn’t afford long shutdown.
All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Patron-in-Chief Gohar Ejaz rejected the decision of Eidul Fitr public holidays from 10th to 16th May.
“This will bring the whole country practically shut down for 10 days from Saturday, 8th May to Monday 17th May 2021. Shutting down the country for 10 consecutive days is unacceptable as it would create a lot of glitches for the economy, industries, particularly the exporters who will not be able to dispatch their shipments abroad due to the complete closure of banks, ports, customs, and all other departments during excessive holidays,” Ejaz said.
